Who here still remembers the struggle of the people on Pari Island? Or maybe you remember when our friends from Enter Nusantara came directly to support clean energy independence there by installing solar panels?
Pari Island is not just a weekend holiday destination. For its community, this island is a home and living space that must be protected. Unfortunately, the threat of the climate crisis is not just a classroom theory, but a real danger every day. Severe coastal erosion at Bintang Beach is clear proof of the heavy impacts of the climate crisis, which is made worse by corporate activities. The livelihoods of local fishermen are threatened, and their coastline continues to wash away.
The people of Pari Island are not staying silent. They have taken many action steps—from peaceful protests in front of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), to consistently raising this issue online and through legal action.
Seeing this long journey, the youth and next generation of Pari Island play a crucial role. That is why on September 1, 2026, Enter Nusantara collaborated with BEM UPN “Veteran” Jakarta in the Sustainable Village Pari Island program to hold an interactive learning session for the children and youth there.
In this activity, participants learned how to build digital skills step by step. The training began with basic understanding of advocacy campaigns, starting from mapping local issues in their surroundings to drafting strong main messages.
After understanding the basics, the children learned how to turn those messages into visuals by creating posters. They practiced mixing colors, layouts, and clear text to make eye-catching digital posters that can grab public attention on social media.
Equally important, the session ended with digital safety training. The youth were equipped with knowledge on how to protect their privacy, secure their personal accounts, and manage potential cyber risks when speaking up about critical issues online.
Through this training, the young generation of Pari Island can become more empowered in using digital media. They are no longer just audience members, but the main storytellers sharing local issues on their island. This way, the struggle of Pari Island’s residents can stay sustainable and reach a wider public safely.
