Strings of Stories: A Fun Makrame & Iftar Gathering with“Teman ENTER”

Jakarta, March 8, 2025 – At the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Enter Nusantara successfully held an event titled “Macrame Workshop & Fun Iftar with Teman Enter” on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Teman Enter,” the term for volunteers at Enter Nusantara, refers to young people who are actively involved in various environmental initiatives with Enter Nusantara. The event served as a moment of reflection for volunteers on their journey with Enter Nusantara, wrapped in a warm, creative, and meaningful gathering for everyone who attended.

This event is a form of Enter Nusantara’s effort to present a moment of togetherness between volunteers by blending a sense of togetherness and creativity in the atmosphere of Ramadan. The activity began with an introduction between volunteers using sticky note paper media, continued with reflections during activities at Enter Nusantara, and finally closed with a macrame workshop on the art of stringing ropes, which is now back in popularity as a medium of expression and relaxation. Guided by Reka Maharwati as the Coordinator of Enter Nusantara, the participants were invited to make simple works that could be taken home as a memento.

Through this event, Enter Nusantara aimed to create a warm and friendly atmosphere among the volunteers while also providing a productive space. Macramé was chosen as a symbolic activity, representing the “threads of stories” we’ve woven together as a community.

After the workshop, the event continued with a joyful iftar (breaking of the fast), filled with laughter and warmth. A variety of traditional Ramadan dishes were shared, fostering a close-knit, family-like ambiance. During the meal, volunteers exchanged stories about their activism experiences with Enter Nusantara, along with their concerns and hopes as young people committed to addressing the climate crisis and other social issues.

This event is not only a gathering space but also a moment to recharge the spirit of volunteers to continue moving together. With the success of this event, Enter Nusantara proves its commitment to being a safe and inclusive space for young people who want to be involved in change, especially issues around the climate crisis, because change always comes in many ways, including from building fun and meaningful togetherness.
